Shell Art Calulations

This is the page with more technical details of what to send to get shells, and how many shells you will receive.‎

Shells are given to you depending on how many character designs (including itozia bats) there are in a piece of artwork.

You also get more shells the more of a character you draw!
Any background effort is then given shells as well!

So for example, if you do a full-view painting of your varisatyr and their friend on a beach at sunset, you'll get 110 + 110 + 70 shells!

  • IMPORTANT: Only registered varisatyrs can be drawn. Unfortunately, "alternate version" and "alternate universe" that stray from canon is not allowed, but can still be sent in #other-art.

  • You can get more shells for characters like Itozia Bats or a deer can be accepted for shells as long as it's drawn with more than a couple lines. (A worm or distant bird wouldn't count for shells.)

  • Don't send more than three images in a row (AKA before a mod responds to it, you'd be spamming)

  • Don't send WIPs in #varisatyr-art!

    • Try not to send too many/too detailed varisatyr wips in general; it might get you in trouble for the below reason depending on the circumstances

  • Deleting ANY is extremely discouraged. Deleting art in #other-art to post in #varisatyr-art is STRICTLY forbidden and will not receive shells.

  • Do not send completed art in both varisatyr-art and other-art.

  • Any art made before the server's existence is not allowed to be sent for shells.

  • Traced photographs are allowed, but traced art of other art is not (unless its your own). Traced photographs are graded one tier lower than the output (e.g. flatcolor lineart, but traced, is tier II). If it's only a sketch, it's 1/2 the payment of tier 1. Also, you MUST say that the art is traced.

SOME SENDING RULES ABOUT ART:

Bust - head to shoulders

Half-body - between the shoulders and the hips

Full-body - anything more than the hips.

The amount of torso showing is roughly how character visibility is calculated.

Anything less than most of the head will not be counted as bust.

HOW OTHER THINGS ARE GRADED

ANIMATION:

Animations are also allowed, and how shells are calculated is on a case-by-case basis, but are usually calculated by how many unique frames are in the animation! For example, if each frame is completely redrawn, it will get more shells than if just an eye is redrawn. Tweening does not yield many shells.

WHEN SENDING ANIMATION, make sure you provide a GIF, not an MP4.

TRADITIONAL ART:

Just the same as digital!

SCULPTURES:

This has no set amount of shells to be given and hasn't been encountered in the server yet. If you would like to do a sculpture, inform the mods and they will have a discussion how to grade them!

Little disclaimer:

This is only a GUIDE; all grading is to the grader's discretion and art never falls perfectly into a category, but will be graded the best the tracker mod can. Interpreted skill level and effort are always taken into account!
If you disagree or are confused with a particular way something was graded, feel free to mention it in the questions channel!
